Users can search for any document in Rev with just a few clicks. If they know what repository they have indexed their images into they can just go ahead and select that repository. If they are not sure about the repository in which they have indexed their images, they can use the Rev multi-repository search feature which provides them with the option to run a search across multiple repositories.

When a user selects a repository to search for documents, all the indexing fields contained in that repository are listed as search fields. Users have the option to search for documents using any one or all of the combinations of these search fields.

Rev search also provides them with the option to search for documents using exact or partial matches for text fields and also has the ability to run searches for numbers, amounts, and dates. While keying in text search values, Rev suggests from a drop-down list in that field, the closest matching values based on the characters typed.

Users then have the option to click on the suggestion that matches their value and press enter to execute the search. Search results are displayed on the screen arranged with matching images in rows with the corresponding index values in columns. Once the search list is displayed on the screen users have the option to sort them.

Users have the option to sort the search results alphabetically for text fields and in increasing or decreasing order for numbers, dates, and amounts by clicking on the names of the indexes. They also have the option to open the images, by clicking on the image icon, in the first column on the left-hand side of the screen.

Furthermore, they can cross-check the indexes with details on the images by turning on the index fields. If they wish to update or modify already indexed documents in Rev, they have the option to search and open an already indexed document as well as the option to add more pages to it or edit the indexing values and then save them.

Repositories in Rev can have as many indexing fields as one could need to efficiently capture information to index and retrieve documents. Remember that when a user selects a repository to search for documents, all the indexing fields contained in that repository are listed as search fields. When searching for documents in repositories that have an overwhelming number of indexes, the search fields are numerous and look daunting. In such a case, users might not require all of them to search for a document. They have the option to hide search fields that they do not use to better organize their search screen. Rev also has the feature to unhide these hidden search fields as and when required.
